Why Billie Eilish Says She’s ‘Never Talking About’ Her Sexuality or Who She’s Dating Again

Billie Eilish regrets making any part of her love life universal. The singer spoke to Vogueabout how hard matchmaking app has been while navigating A-list fame and growing up in the spotlight.

“I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or anything about my dating life. Ever, ever, ever,” she began. “And I hope that they never will again. And I’m never talking about my sexuality ever again. And I’m never talking about who I’m dating ever again.”

She cited a history of being too open and honest in interviews, and those comments being widely covered by media. She shared with a sigh, “I guess I also underestimate that things I say will be blown up into the biggest news of the whole world.”

Having people watch her every shift is “so unnatural,” Eilish said. “We’re all babies. We’re all little kids growing up and study ourselves.”

Billie Eilish on Coming Out: ‘I Didn’t Grasp People Didn’t Know’

On Saturday, Billie Eilish confirmed that she recently came out in her Variety Power of Women cover story, in which she first revealed her attraction to women. The Grammy-winning superstar walked the red carpet at Variety‘s Hitmakers event, our invite-only celebration of the biggest songs of the year, where she revealed that she didn’t mean to make a grand gesture of “coming out.”

“No I didn’t,” Eilish said. “But I kind of idea, ‘Wasn’t it obvious’? I didn’t perceive people didn’t understand. I just don’t really believe in it. I’m just like, ‘Why can’t we just exist’? I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I just didn’t talk about it. Whoops.”

Eilish continued, “But I saw the article, and I was like, ‘Oh I guess I came out today.’ OK cool. It’s exciting to me because I suppose people didn’t perceive , but it’s stylish that they know.” She added: “I am for the girls.”

Billie Eilish says she's 'physically attracted' to women

Billie Eilish opened up about homosexual attraction in a novel interview.

The 21-year-old singer, who's on the cover of Variety's "Power of Women" issue, told the magazine that she has struggled to connect with other girls and women throughout her life.

However, that began to change earlier this year when she recorded an original song for the "Barbie" movie, directed by Greta Gerwig.

"I've never really felt like I could relate to girls very well," Eilish said. "I love them so much. I love them as people. I'm attracted to them as people. I'm attracted to them for real."

"I have dense connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life," she continued. "I'm physically attracted to them. But I'm also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence."

Although Eilish did not employ a specific term to label her sexuality, the interviewer described the quote as a "revelation." (A representative for Eilish didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.)

Later in the interview, Eilish did confirm that she uses she/her pronouns, despite her challenging relationship

Billie Eilish has said that she's only just "figuring out" her sexuality and called out people for pressuring her to chat about it.

Fans of Billie Eilish will already know that she has never labelled her sexuality. In 2023, she told Variety that she's "physically attracted to girls". She was later asked about coming out on Variety's red carpet. Afterwards, Billie took to social media to tell that she likes "boys and girls". She also asked people to "leave [her] alone" and not ask her about her sexuality.

Billie has since released a snippet of a new anthem called 'Lunch' that's about hooking up with a miss. Now, she's revealed that writing the song for her new album 'Hit Me Hard Not Soft' has helped her start to figure out her sexuality.
