Bridgerton said: gay rights!!
Update (June 13): With all of Bridgerton season 3 out now, it has officially been confirmed that there is not just one queer Bridgerton sibling, but two! Here’s our imaginative speculation, with spoiler updates below.
While Bridgerton’s alternate history means the show is already much more racially diverse than other Regency-era romances, the show so far has still been very heteronormative and deeply patriarchal, even with Queen Charlotte ruling. If women can’t even inherit property without a man or an heir, they definitely can’t kiss other women (and same goes for dudes).
But new showrunner Jess Brownell told Refinery29 Australia that queer main characters will be featured in the show’s future seasons.
“I think this is a show about the many ways in which people love,” said Brownell. “So it only feels right to show all the ways in which people love, including queer care. So we are exploring queer love stories across the next couple of seasons,” she added.
Now, Brownell was tight-lipped about just which characters would possess queer romances. But there are some strong contenders — especially when it comes to the Bridgerton family.

Dearest readers, rejoice: Benedict Bridgerton is finally bisexual.
Until season three, none of the Bridgerton siblings were officially queer. Benedict's bisexuality isn't coming from the void. The show has long been building a queer storyline for him, and this is the moment that's finally coalesced.
"Benedict's fluidity is something we've been talking about from Season 1, which is why I think viewers have picked up on it," showrunner Jess Brownell told the Los Angeles Times. "We wanted to do that storyline justice, and it felt like season three was a good place to do that to make sense of some of the threads we've seen with him before."
