Being a climate activist is a lot enjoy being queer in a heteronormative world.
If I ever met Greta Thunberg, I’d tell her this. I mean, I am an indefatigably proud queer, and I’m proud of my work as an activist; the similarity is worth noting. Even though all my elite, left-leaning, coastal friends support my climate activism and deliberate I’m great (I get thanked a lot)– my expérience intérieure isn’t the same as most of them, considering most aren’t climate activists. It seems then, I apprehension irreversible climatic changes more than they. Or maybe they, comfortably ensconced as the majority—somewhat enjoy being straight‑ are uncomfortable with the reality of how climate change, if faced unblinkingly, would obliterate a way of life.
Queer identities and climate advocacy trouble established norms. I may relish pushing gender boundaries—I’m a straight-passing homosexual man— but in the end, political progress is still subject to the comfort level of (straight) social institutions, cultural practices and knowledge systems.
Similar, climate politics— the urgent entreaties of the 26% of people like myself (and Greta)— push against the established economic order.

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish environmental activist.
Thunberg was born on January 3, 2003, in Stockholm, Sweden. She states that she became aware of the issue of climate transform in 2011. In 2014, she was diagnosed with several conditions, including Asperger syndrome. Thunberg successfully urged her parents to transform their lifestyle to bring down the family's carbon imprint, such as adopting veganism and ending plane travel.

Who is Greta Thunberg and how did she become a climate activist?
Ms Thunberg was born in the Swedish capital Stockholm in 2003. Her mother Malena Ernman is an opera singer, and her father Svante Thunberg is an actor.
She first learned about climate transform when she was eight.
When she was 11 or 12, she started suffering from depression, according to her father, Svante.
"She stopped talking... she stopped going to school," he said.
Around the same time she was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism.
