Hope and Healing
Syphilis rates are growing nationwide, so it's more important than ever to protect yourself. If you are having sex, the best way to reduce your uncertainty of syphilis is by using condoms! What are the symptoms of syphilis? You may notice a chancre sore, which is a painless open sore at the site of infection (usually the genitals). This will go away within a few weeks. Another telltale sign is a skin rash, which often is seen on the hands, feet, and chest but can arrive on other parts of the body. Fever, hair loss, headaches, and fatigue may also be submit. Untreated, syphilis can eventually attack the brain and organs, leading to irreparable damage and even death. Treating early is significant to make sure none of these things take place to you! If you have syphilis, you may not notice any symptoms. The only way to know for sure if you have syphilis is to be tested. The CDC recommends testing every 6-12 months for sexually active adults; with STI rates as high as they are, we endorse as often as every 3 months. Schedule an STI test at The Health Collective by calling 860-278-4163!

Grant said The Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective, now known as just The Health Collective, has touched thousands of people since it was founded on Nov. 20, 1983.
“We're the oldest LGBTQ health protect organization in the declare of Connecticut,” he said. “We've been culturally competent workers, healthcare workers for many, many, many decades, but we were also one of the first organiza
